The Institute is a unique collection of gifted scientists helping one another achieve their research goals. Our scientists are chosen for membership in the Institute because they have demonstrated expertise in basic and clinical research approaches that advance the prediction and prevention of disease. They work together in collaborative and interactive ways and are excited about their colleagues' progress as well as their own.

A great advantage of PNDRI is its modest size. The administration involves only a handful of people and a minimum of bureaucracy. Consequently, we are able to respond rapidly and effectively to new opportunities presented by this exciting era of biomedical research that provides new information on a daily basis. It is the combination of independent resources and flexibility that makes PNDRI a unique and productive setting for medical research. PNDRI provides its scientists a wonderful working environment by virtue of its outstanding facility as well as generous financial support from peer-reviewed sources such as the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the American Diabetes Association.
